Professor John Iain Broom

Professor Broom is a consultant in Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolic Medicine at Grampian University Hospitals NHS Trust and Professor of Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Aberdeen. Since 1995 Professor Broom has been Depute Director of the Surgical Nutrition and Metabolism Unit in the Department of Surgery and Clinical Biochemistry. He has a Professorship in Clinical Biochemistry from the Robert Gordon University and also holds a Professorial Research Fellowship with the Rowett Research Institute. In addition, Professor Broom is Chairman of Grampian R&D Consortium and sits on several national and European research committees in a special advisory capacity. Professor Broom is coordinator of The Counterweight Programme, a multi-centre obesity project being conducted in 80 general practices in seven regions of the UK (Aberdeen, Bath, Birmingham, Glasgow, Hammersmith, Leeds and Luton).

Dr David Haslam

Dr David Haslam is a GP with a special interest in obesity and cardio metabolic disease, Physician in Obesity Medicine at the Centre for Obesity Research at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, and Clinical Director of the National Obesity Forum (NOF) in the UK. He took charge of formulating the guidelines for adult obesity management in primary care and produced the first Primary Care guidelines for management of childhood obesity with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
 
He is Chair of the charity Foundations, a Director of PCOS UK, a member of the Counterweight Board, Visiting Lecturer at Chester University and Visiting Fellow at the Postgraduate Medical School of Herts & Beds. 
 
David has articles widely published in journals and papers and speaks internationally on obesity and related diseases. His books include 'Your Questions Answered- Obesity' in the popular YQA series, and his next major work is a book on the history of obesity, gluttony and sloth, due to be published in 2008.

 

Dr John Briffa

Dr John Briffa is a Medical Doctor and Nutritionist who also holds a degree in Biomedical Sciences. He is a well known expert in nutrition and health and holds posts as a Practitioner of Integrated Medicine - Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth, London and a Practitioner of Integrated Medicine - Highgate Hospital, London

Dr David Northridge is a Consultant Cardiologist at a leading hospital in Scotland.

Prof Richard Feinman

Prof Richard Feinman is a Professor in Clinical Biochemistry in New York.
